Par Clean - R Par Clean - R

PAR CLEAN – R (RUST CONVERTER )
Liquid for cleaning re-bars & steel surfaces
PARCLEAN - R is a chloride free liquid rust converter. It is used effectively to clean rust from steel surfaces before applying any protective coating on it.

AREAS OF APPLICATION:
On rebars during repairs to reinforced concrete structures Maintenance of mild steel structures like tanks, water pipelines shuttering plates and other corroded steel surfaces.

FEATURES & BENEFITS:
• Simple application by brush
• Effective rust removal, even from areas difficult to reach
• Contains no chloride - no chance of enhancing corrosion
• Cost effective coverage

METHOD OF APPLICATION :
In case of heavy rusting of steel reinforcement, M.S. pipelines, M.S. plates or any other M.S. surface, remove the loose rust by wire brushing, chipping, hammering or grinding so that majority of rust scale is removed. Apply PARCLEAN - R on affected surface by using cotton waste swab or by brush application. Leave the surface to react with PARCLEAN - R for atleast 15 to 30 minutes. The rusty surface will change its colour to original blackish steel. Then remove the loose rust particles by scrubbing or simple dusting with the brush. When applied over corroded reinforcement steel, wash the surface with clean water before taking up further work of repairs.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

Parcoat-S Parcoat-S

PARCOAT–S, a polymer based formulation forms a strong film on steel surface. This inhibits rusting and bonds well with concrete.

APPLICATIONS
• For coating of reinforcement bars especially in repairs.
• For protection of marine structures and buildings in saline and corrosive environment.
• For encased steel members in industrial buildings, high tensile wires/ strands/ cables as in pre-stressed concrete sections.

ADVANTAGES
• Total protection to all embedded steel members.
• Helps in good bonding of steel and concrete.
• Provides effective barrier to water and other corrosive elements.
• Easy to apply with a regular paint brush.

CHARACTERISTICS
State : Liquid
Colour : Green
Solid Content : 46%
pH : 9.0

GUIDELINES FOR USE:
1. Remove the rust from the steel surface using a wire brush followed by a treatment of PARCLEAN-R (Please see PARCLEAN–R data sheet).
2. Mix PARCOAT-S with cement in 1:1 ratio by weight to form a consistent slurry.
3. Apply this mixture on the steel surface with a brush.
4. Allow the coating to dry for 6 – 8 hrs.
5. Apply second coat to ensure that all pin holes are eliminated.
6. Allow the second coat to dry for 6 – 8 hrs before proceeding further.

The treated area is further repaired using PARCRETE J-540 OR PARCRETE A-440 bond coat followed by cement mortar modified with PARCRETE J-540 or PARCRETE A-440 to build up the new concrete layer by layer. (Please see PARCRETE J-540 or PARCRETE A440 data sheets)

GUIDELINES FOR USE:
Polymer Modified Mortar
1. After exposing the reinforcement, it is cleaned and treated with PARCLEAN–R and PARCOAT–S (Please see PARCLEAN–R AND PARCOAT–S data sheets).
2. The loose concrete around this area is then chipped away and removed.
3. Mix PARCRETE–J540 and cement in 1:1 ratio to form a consistent slurry.
4. Apply a bond coat using the above slurry with a fine brush to all the exposed concrete.
5. While the bond coat is still tacky, apply the PARCRETE–J 540 polymer mortar in paste or dough form (the ratios and procedure as shown below), build it up layer by layer, with each layer being not more than 15-20 mm at a time.
6. After the first layer is applied it is left to dry for 24 hours before the second layer is applied.
7. The process is repeated till the old concrete thickness is re-achieved.

Proportions:
PARCRETE–J 540 : I part by weight
Cement : 5 parts by weight
Quartz / River sand : 15 parts by weight (for beams and columns a mix of fine and coarse quartz / river sand in the ratio 40:60, while for slabs the fine to coarse ratio is 60:40)

The above are mixed till a dough-like consistency is reached. Small quantity of water (about 3 - 5% by weight of mortar mixture) may be added to help achieve ideal workability of the dough. A rough test to check the ideal work ability is to drop a fist sized ball made of this dough into the dough mixture from shoulder height. The dough should not shatter on impact.
8. After the polymer mortar has built up the concrete to its original thickness, the treated area is to be kept moist for 4 - 5 days before the final plaster coat is done in the usual manner.

Polymer Cement Grout
1. Take 1 kg of PARCRETE-J 540, 4 kg of cement and 2 - 3 kg of water (depending on the flow required) (Polymer : Water : Cement = 1 : 2-3 : 4) by weight.
2. Mix PARCRETE-J 540 and water for about 2 minutes.
3. Add this solution to the cement and mix till a consistent slurry is formed.
4. Grout as recommended.
5. Any modification in the proportion may be made in consultation with your RCC consultant or our technical services.

STORAGE :
Stable under normal conditions. Should be stored away from direct sunlight.

HANDLING :
Use of gloves and safety glasses is recommended.

PACKING :
Available in1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg and 50 kg.
